Two Indicted In Connection With the Murder of East Orange Teen

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced on July 11 that an Essex County Grand Jury has returned a seven count indictment charging Taliv Amos with the July 20, 2010 murder of Jerrell Singleton and charging Yasin Corley with conspiracy to commit murder.

Singleton, 19, of East Orange was fatally shot in the vicinity of South Orange Avenue and Brookwood Street in East Orange.

Amos, 19, of Newark is the alleged shooter. He is charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and two weapons offenses. In addition to conspiracy to commit murder, Corley, 26, of Newark is charged with aggravated assault, burglary and hindering apprehension.

Both defendants previously lived in East Orange in the Brookwood Street area.

These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they either plead guilty or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
