East Orange Mayor Robert L. Bowser had many things to talk about. He said that the former police director will work as a technical consultant with the city after the council denied renewal of his contract. He talked about the transitional year budget and welcomed the idea, as the city administration can place their budget for 2 years, so there should be less conflict between the council and the administration, and for 2 years there should not be any tax increase. He also mentioned that next June, there will be a total reevaluation of the East Orange properties, so everyone pays their fair share. He thanked the Chamber for their support over the years and recognized key members of the community.
East Orange General Hospital has 1,200 employees and 800 employees working from the area. East Orange General Hospital is very supportive to the community and the chamber. Over 60 members and guests were present, including councilpersons Andrea McPhatter, James Barnes, and Ted R. Green. Former councilpersons Thomas Brown and David Clark were also present. The event was hosted at Bella Italia Ristorante in Orange.
