In keeping with its ongoing commitment to quality care, East Orange General Hospital has joined a national partnership of more than 2,000 hospitals pledging to stop preventable injuries and patient complications.
By signing a pledge this week to join the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service’s “Partnership for Patients,” East Orange General Hospital reinforces its existing goals of keeping hospital patients from getting injured or sicker and helping patients heal without complications.
“These two goals have always been integral parts of our quality mission here at East Orange General Hospital,” said hospital President and CEO Kevin Slavin, “but signing the pledge to partner with the government’s program will reinforce our commitment to make hospital care safer, more reliable and less costly.”
Specifically, the hospital has agreed to involve its Board of Directors, senior leaders and medical staff in making quality and safety goals a priority. At the same time the hospital has pledged to work with staff and patients to better communicate and coordinate proven methods to accomplish those goals.
Nationwide, the “Partnership for Patients” aims to improve quality, safety and affordability of care by reducing injuries and complications by 40- percent and reducing hospital readmissions by 20 percent over a three-year period.
