Living to the esteemed age of 100 is definitely an accomplishment, but enjoying life beyond that milestone while still maintaining your health and faculties is noteworthy. Here is hoping all citizens will offer best wishes to Mrs. Edna Irene Burkley James as she celebrates her 102nd Birthday.
Mrs. James was born January 5, 1908 in Bremo Bluff, Virginia and moved to New Jersey in 1923, where she married the late Frank James in 1925. Although the couple was not blessed with children of their own, Mrs. James has nieces, nephews and a lot of friends who truly love her. Mrs. James moved to East Orange in 1982 where she became a resident of Norman Towers until January 2008. She now resides at the Park Crescent Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. James was a member of the Church of God and Christ in Newark. She then joined the Evangelistic Mission Church which was later renamed Living Water Christian Center Church in East Orange, where Theodore A. Faison Sr. is her Pastor. Mrs. James made her living as a domestic for over 45 years, has visited the Holy Land three times, traveled to Egypt and even journeyed to Rome where she saw Pope John Paul II.
Mrs. James has always been a giving person to anyone who is in need, and is well known to have love for everyone and always wants to help.
