CAPTION_-_Jeff_Robinson_drops_the_hammer_on_RutgersNEWARK, NJ -The Seton Hall and Rutgers game has always been true to their heated rivalry. Before a packed crowd last night at the Prudential Center, the Pirates took a 35-18 lead after the first half. The Hall shot 46.2 percent from the field and had only one turnover but the Scarlet Knights had 12 turnovers.

In the second half, SHU continued protecting the ball, with just six turnovers. Former St. Anthony's standout Mike Rosario led Rutgers with 17 points, while teammate Hamady Ndiaye had 12 points and 14 boards. It got close, but Seton Hall went on to win 76-70. The Pirates are now overall 16-10 and 7-8 in the Big East Conference. Rutgers is 14-14 overall and 4-11 in the conference.

"We played a good game and we were thrilled to win," said Seton Hall head coach Bobby Gonzalez.

Seton Hall had four players in double figures, like Jeremy Hazell who led his team with 25 points. Herb Pope had a good game with six points and 12 rebounds, while Jordan Theodore had 12 points and six assists.

"This is a rivalry game. I give Seton Hall a lot of credit for the win," said RU head coach Fred Hill.

The Pirates need to pick up key wins in their bid for the NCAA tournament, and their résumé includes wins over Pittsburgh, Louisville and Notre Dame. In their final home game of the season on Feb. 28, the team will honor Eugene Harvey, a Saint Benedict's product, along with his teammate John Garcia who are both seniors.
