After winning a game against Kearny 72-48, the East Orange Campus High School Lady Jaguars took on the Montclair Mounties for the Section 1 Group 4 title. On Montclair's home court, East Orange's Center Linda Hamilton led all scorers with 21 points and 10 rebounds, especially in the 3rd quarter in which East Orange dominated the game. Teammate Delisha Thompson helped out with 8 points, along with the strong defense of the Lady Jags. The final score was 41-26, with East Orange winning the title.

Malcolm X. Shabazz Girls Win Back to Back Finals; University Upsets Seton Hall Prep
The Malcolm X Shabazz High School girls' basketball team won back-to-back county finals at the Essex County College Tournament.
Before 2,000 fans, sophomore Aliyyah Handford gave the Lady Bulldogs 11 points. She also had key baskets in the game along with five rebounds. Seton Hall bound Ka-Deidre Simmons had 12 points and Desiree Simmons had a game high with 17 points. The game MVP was Alyesha Lovett who had 11 points, five rebounds and two assists to go with a blocked shot and three steals.
Seton Hall Takes Tough Loss in Overtime Against Marquette
NEWARK, NJ - This year, the Seton Hall men's basketball team has been in tough games and hard battles. The game this past Sunday, February 28 was the most crushing result.
The Pirates lost to a tough Marquette team 84-83 in overtime at the Prudential Center in Newark.
Seton Hall Defeats Rutgers at Rivalry Game
NEWARK, NJ -The Seton Hall and Rutgers game has always been true to their heated rivalry. Before a packed crowd last night at the Prudential Center, the Pirates took a 35-18 lead after the first half. The Hall shot 46.2 percent from the field and had only one turnover but the Scarlet Knights had 12 turnovers.
In the second half, SHU continued protecting the ball, with just six turnovers. Former St. Anthony's standout Mike Rosario led Rutgers with 17 points, while teammate Hamady Ndiaye had 12 points and 14 boards. It got close, but Seton Hall went on to win 76-70. The Pirates are now overall 16-10 and 7-8 in the Big East Conference. Rutgers is 14-14 overall and 4-11 in the conference.
"We played a good game and we were thrilled to win," said Seton Hall head coach Bobby Gonzalez.
Seton Hall had four players in double figures, like Jeremy Hazell who led his team with 25 points. Herb Pope had a good game with six points and 12 rebounds, while Jordan Theodore had 12 points and six assists.

This year, the Seton Hall men's basketball team is doing well at home with wins against top Big East teams like Louisville, Pittsburgh, and Notre Dame. Overall, the Pirates have a 5-7 conference record, and a 14-11 season record.
On Feb. 11 the Pirates defeated Notre Dame 90-87 with Jeremy Hazell scoring 35 points and Herb Pope adding 16 points. Jeff Robinson gave the Hall 14 points.
