When Cory A. Booker was elected Mayor of Newark, he made several promises to the citizens of the city. He said he would do everything in his power to reduce crime and ensure public safety. He also mentioned how he would bring new businesses to the city and empower the community to be a part of that trend. At the end of his term, he has accomplished these tasks.
We have closely observed the development of other mayoral candidates, and came to the conclusion that Mayor Booker is the right candidate to bring the city of Newark forward. In addition to achieving what he said he would do, he has gone beyond the initial campaign. His open office hours are a true sign of service to the people, giving Newarkers access to the Mayor to resolve issues in the community. Also, the Mayor has given the city national exposure, not because of violence, but showcasing the best that Newark has to offer.
Even when there was tragedy in the city, Mayor Booker was at the forefront, accepting responsibility. He even took it upon himself to go out at night to support anti-crime efforts in the community. The Mayor also respected the crusade of protestors who looked to call attention to the violence in Newark. Rather than having the protests broken up, he allowed for the people to have freedom of speech and made for conditions that gave them safety to assemble.
Like any leader, the Mayor still has a few things he has to work on and improve. However, what he has accomplished so far speaks volumes. Also, with his exceptional mental acumen, Mayor Booker has incredible potential to bring more resources and more success to the city of Newark. He emphasizes with the community, and will fight for the community.
