The Illusion of Politics

marvinwolf1Our country is in for the political fight of its life. People are so disgusted with both parties that Republicans are being recalled in Wisconsin while being elected in New York’s heavily Democratic districts.

The NY Representative who couldn’t keep his weiner in his pants is now replaced by a Republican. We have a Congress that was willing to let the country stop paying its bills and thinks that ending Social Security and Medicare is a civil virtue.

But it goes a lot deeper than that. Whether it is Governor Christie’s secret meeting with the Koch Brothers, or President Obama trying to sabotage NASA’s space program while turning all Americans into unionized construction workers (which both would deny), you can’t really tell who stands for what anymore, except they all seem to take money and marching orders from different rich people.

We get political talking points and rhetoric when we need leadership. Whether we get taxed to death or budget-cut to death, dead is dead. Practicality has been bullied into oblivion by ideology and punditry. As a result, no one can get any plan passed to really help the economy.

I think the problem really is that both parties are stupid. They don’t have solutions because they don’t have a clue about the problems we face and worse, they don’t care. They never did and still don’t. They just like to pretend they do so they can get votes.

Jobs are not important to them in terms of creating jobs. They are simply a bargaining chip, an infomercial to get people to keep buying into the illusion of a two-party system. Both parties try to polarize voters over a few small issues so they won’t unite and give us an American version of Arab Spring.

Have you noticed how high unemployment seems to be good for the stock market? Less jobs means that fewer workers must do more work, so costs go down as margins go up.

Since the crash there have been a lot of speeches but no new laws to stop it from happening again. In fact, Republicans are pushing for even fewer laws. Why? Because the battle between rich and poor is over, with the poor losing. The battle now is rich versus rich, and to the survivor goes the spoils.

Chase wants to buy Bank of America. ATT wants to buy T-Mobile. Apple and Google want to buy everybody. It’s a new era of hostile corporate takeovers to try to create new monopolies. If a government looks like it’s going to block it, just make the government collapse.      Think I’m kidding? The best news these days doesn’t come from serious news outlets but from comedy news outlets, like the Jon Stewart show. For example, according to Cracked.com, there are several large monopolies you never heard of. One-third of all the computers in the world, whether Mac or PC, are made by the same company in Taiwan. One beverage company owns most of the imported beer companies that sell in America. Most optical companies and sunglass brands in the U.S. are owned and manufactured by one company. Most pet food comes from one Canadian company. Eighty percent of all corn planted in America is a genetic product trademarked by one company.

What does this mean? It means the idea that there are different brands is just an illusion made up by marketing departments. It’s all a false choice, just like our politicians. Democrat, Republican, Tea Party - different marketing campaigns, but same owners.

How will it end? I have seen the future. It was revealed in the movie “Resurrection Man.” In the future, all restaurants will be Taco Bell. And their Chihuahua will be President. Hey, what else would you expect in a dog-eat-dog world?
