Hello Readers,
GIANTS…SUPERBOWL…FUN…EATING…DRINKING…CHATING…EXCITEMENT…and then driving home for many folks. Last Year, the Super Bowl had several arrests for drinking and driving. So I appeal to Local Talk’s readers, do not drink and drive. One day of fun should not turn into many days of misery. So please be careful and do not drive if you are drunk.
The Giants are the underdog. However, they have won their last five games: the last two regular season games against the Jets and Cowboys, the Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, and San Francisco 49ers. Now it will be the big test for the Giants. Tom Brady has more Super Bowl rings, more touchdowns, more completed passes, and more endorsements for advertisements then Eli Manning. However, Eli Manning can certainly hold his own. He has converted well on third down and thrown for several fourth quarter touchdown passes. He is full of surprises, and I hope he can repeat that again this Sunday. Local Talk wishes the best of luck to the Giants and their fans. Let’s have a great time on Sunday.
Mitt Romney won the Florida Primary by a wide margin. However, he ran 13,000 TV advertisements vs. 200 advertisements for Newt Gingrich. There is no comparison, and Romney has money. So does President Barack Obama. In 6% of the primary, Romney is a clear winner. However, the tones of the north and south are different. There is a Primary in Nevada on February 4, Caucuses in Maine, Colorado and Minnesota February 4-11, and a Primary in Missouri on February 7. These will test Romney as to whether or not he will be the candidate for Republican Party.
Right now, Romney, Gingrich and Santorum are criticizing each other. This might help President Obama. He is watching the show from the sidelines. Next month, Super Tuesday (10 state’s primaries/caucuses) on March 6 will decide the matter. If Romney is a big winner, then Gingrich has to quit, but if Gingrich is taking some of the states, then he will continue and be a roadblock for Romney to capture the 1,144 delegates needed to win the candidacy of the Republican Party.
Newark Mayor Cory A. Booker has endorsed Orange Mayor Eldridge Hawkins, Jr. for re-election. Eldridge Hawkins has many top local politicians supporting him. He has shown improvements in Orange, mainly demolishing the Walter G. Alexander Public Housing and running the city in a tough economy efficiently, according to many sources. Orange needs to successfully escape the hole of economic downturn after the closing of the largest employer, the hospital center in Orange. Hawkins’ support from many county and state level politicians has brought money to Orange, and I commend the Mayor for that.
Have a wonderful week. I’ll talk to you next week.
