Hello Readers,
The crisis continues, and the economic doubt is on United States of America. The Senators and Congresspersons have to follow the laws made for them; otherwise it may be chaos in this country. On August 2, President Obama signed a Budget Control Act. The US Senate Armed Service Committee approved the recommendation to cut $37 billion from the Pentagon Budget starting October 1, 2011. They have approved a $684.5 billion dollar budget for fiscal year 2011-2012. The Democrats and Republicans must come up with a budget reduction by next week; otherwise, by law, the budget cuts will be effective and we might see cuts in much needed programs of Medicare and Social Security. The Democrats wants to collect a fair share from wealthy Americans and the Republican want to cut from programs. They are so far apart that the deal seems impossible as of right now. However, the politicians will fight until the end, and may all of a sudden come to an agreement for a deal, which might or might not be beneficial to the people.
On Nov. 11, when President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were away from Washington, shots were heard. On Nov. 16, the Secret Service found a bullet in a White House window. Also, another bullet found was outside. A car was found on Constitution Avenue near the White House and an AK-47 rifle was found inside the car. The police and Secret Service did find Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, 21, described as 5-feet-11 and 160 pounds, with a medium build, brown eyes and black hair. Still, this raises concerns about the security of our country.
Occupy Wall Street Protesters became a headache for Mayor Bloomberg and the New York Police Department. They tried many different ways to disperse the protesters, but none worked. Finally, they went through the court system and got a ban to prevent the protesters from having tent and sleeping in Zuccotti Park. But some of the protesters did not give up, and are sleeping without beds or tent under the sky. Their demand may not be worthy of a protest, but their determination and the inequality of wealth distribution is a good enough reason for them to protest.
The City of Newark is celebrating their 175th anniversary of incorporation. The city has a great history, and the series of events may bring the citizens together for a good cause. Mayor Cory Booker is trying his hardest and is bringing the city up to a higher level. But it is very hard for people to realize what is happening and change their perception easily. The Mayor has seen a better Newark and placed Newark into the conscious of the world. He needs the support of the citizens and the council. Without it, achieve the goals faster will be very difficult.
Have a wonderful week. I’ll talk to you next week.
