Trump is Taking the Fifth

marvinwolf1New Jersey has a reputation as a problem state; we also have the reputation of burying them too. Case in point - a billionaire developer who has a last name that rhymes with dump.

When it comes to death, some famous people like to think big. King Tutankhamen had his pyramid, President Grant had his tomb, Viking leaders had flaming funeral boats. Not to be outdone, Donald Trump has his…golf course.

Stalin and Lenin memorialized themselves by getting stuffed and placed on permanent display - but Donald wants to use himself to sink a putt.

DHIRENHello Readers,

GIANTS…SUPERBOWL…FUN…EATING…DRINKING…CHATING…EXCITEMENT…and then driving home for many folks. Last Year, the Super Bowl had several arrests for drinking and driving. So I appeal to Local Talk’s readers, do not drink and drive. One day of fun should not turn into many days of misery. So please be careful and do not drive if you are drunk.

The Giants are the underdog. However, they have won their last five games: the last two regular season games against the Jets and Cowboys, the Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, and San Francisco 49ers. Now it will be the big test for the Giants. Tom Brady has more Super Bowl rings, more touchdowns, more completed passes, and more endorsements for advertisements then Eli Manning. However, Eli Manning can certainly hold his own. He has converted well on third down and thrown for several fourth quarter touchdown passes. He is full of surprises, and I hope he can repeat that again this Sunday. Local Talk wishes the best of luck to the Giants and their fans. Let’s have a great time on Sunday.

DHIRENHello Readers,

I commend the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office for apprehending the suspects involved in the fatal shooting of Miguel Torres, 37, the owner of JNC Mini Mart located at 346 14th Ave. in Newark. The incident happened on January 17, 2012 and they already apprehended the suspects. It was a job well done. “They can do a great job whenever they want to” is the perception of the residents in the Local Talk area.

The people have power. They have shown it in the South Carolina Republican Primary. The stubborn Republican hopeful for the White House Mitt Romney has stated that he would declare his tax returns of 2010 and 2011 later. But due to the change in momentum, he announced his tax figures earlier. He is worth $240 million dollars and is paying less than 15% of the tax rate, as stated by him previously.

Quantum Dots and Brown Fields

marvinwolf1I used to be pretty smart. I went to a famous science and math high school. I got honors in college. Most of my friends think I’m pretty brilliant. But the truth these days is, I’m a caveman in an astronaut world.

It’s not all my fault. Back when I was in school, all we really knew about the atom was it was made up of the proton, neutron and electron. That’s it. Quantum physics was still mostly theoretical. Quarks had not yet been discovered, nor the gluon. I remember masers - they came before the laser - before “Goldfinger.” Still, I considered myself competent. They had this new device, the video tape recorder, and I was one of the few people who had one whose display actually displayed the correct time, instead of an eternally blinking 12:00 sign. I could even program the timer on the device to record a television show when I wasn’t there. That put me in the upper one percentile when it came to brains in my neighborhood. Hooray for me.

DHIRENHello Readers,

2011 is history now. The way that the economy predicts the worst may become history in near future. However, in the local economy we do not see much of a difference. Obama’s administration is not doing a great job, but is trying their best to handle the situation in the best manner they deemed fit. The rich got richer and the middle class is diminishing. The effort of fundamental changes to bring the smaller businesses back on track has not been seen yet.

In my opinion, too much government control in our businesses and our lives is hurting the U.S. economy. For the last couple of decades, the mergers have taken place and it all started with Bill Clinton, who allowed many mergers and made the trend towards monopolies. The government is spending more money for government programs now. In the last two decades, we have seen more government buildings, more franchise businesses, and/or rich corporations’ buildings being built. These nice looking buildings are controlled by the well-to-do, and are not helping the middle class. In the near future, if you want your life to be smooth, you must work for the government or large corporation. It’s sad, but it’s the truth.
