NEWARK - Jaffe Communications announced today it has hired a former member of Mayor Cory Booker’s press office as the newest associate of its growing team.
Thiago Viana helped coordinate press conferences as well as individual interviews, along with helping create and distribute press releases under the direction of Esmeralda Diaz-Cameron, the mayor’s press secretary.
Viana, who speaks fluent Portuguese and Spanish, is heavily involved in the Newark community and looks forward to playing a greater role as Jaffe Communications continues to expand its client base in the city. The firm recently opened a second office on Bleeker Street in the heart of the city’s University Heights neighborhood.
“We’re pleased to have someone who is as connected to the community as Thiago on our Newark team,” said Jonathan Jaffe, the managing principal of Jaffe Communications, recently named a top 20 public relations firm by NJBiz. “He is a great addition to our Newark team.”
Viana said he was attracted to Jaffe Communications because of the firm’s reputation and extensive relationships with the media and key decision makers in Newark.
“I look forward to working with Jonathan and Bruno Tedeschi here in Newark,” Viana said. “I anticipate doing great things in the city.”
Thiago graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, N.J. with dual degrees in history and political science. Along with his brother, Rafael, he co-founded a soccer camp for underprivileged inner city youth.
